I-Ice Cream

Ice cream is my #1 pregnancy craving.  I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I am not getting enough calcium.  Don't worry, I am taking vitamins with calcium, but from what I hear calcium in that form is not the best.

I have loved ice cream my whole life.  There is nothing like a refreshing ice cream cone on a hot summer day.  I love heading to an ice cream shop, grabbing a table outside, and people watching and chatting with my hubby.

I hope we continue this little tradition with our little one.  I'm sure we will.  Ice cream will probably be Baby Boy's first grown up food.

H-He/Him

Now that I know I am "cooking" a little boy, I love that I can refer to him using the appropriate pronouns.  It is so much nicer saying:

"Oh my goodness, HE is moving"

"HE is such a big boy!"

"I can't wait to meet HIM!"

"What are we going to name HIM?"

At first I didn't want to find out the gender.  I thought it would be more exciting to wait and be surprised at birth.  But now that I know, I am so happy Kiel talked me into finding out (it wasn't hard for him to do!).  People say once you know the gender you form more of a bond with the baby.  This is 100% true.

I love thinking about him and talking to him.  I am having more vivid dreams about him.  Everything about HIM is perfect.

Yeah, I'm pretty hopelessly in love with another man.

Week 19

This has been the best week of the entire pregnancy.  We learned that we are having a baby boy.  We got to see baby boy looking super cute and comfy on Thursday at our ultrasound.  I am feeling baby boy moving more and more.  We had a wonderful party with our family and friends to find out the gender of baby boy.  I have been feeling a whole lot better.  All food is yummy again.  I have been in a pretty good mood.  No complaints here!

At the ultrasound on Thursday we found out our little boy is growing a little faster than expected.  I had a feeling this would happen.  My mom had three big babies.  My sister and I were both 8 1/2 pounds and my brother was 9 pounds.  Hopefully this just means I will be a few days early, just not before June 21st (the last day of school if this winter continues to cooperate and we don't have any snow days!).  We haven't heard any news from the doctor regarding the ultrasound so hopefully no news is good news.  I'll be going for my 5 month check up on Monday so we will hear any information at that time.  I hope everything is okay, but if it is, that means that last Thursday was the last peek we will have of our baby boy until he makes his grand appearance.

Regarding the bump-there is no denying I'm preggo now.  Today at work, one lady said, "Oh my God you are HUGE!  And you still have a while to go.  Where is the baby going to go?"   Really?  Yeah, I do feel huge, but I don't think I'm that big yet.

Funny story from school....Yesterday after revealing to the anxious students the gender of the baby, one little girl asks, "Is Amanda having a black baby boy or a white baby boy?"  Apparently she doesn't know where babies come from and thinks that some people have black babies and others have white babies.  We left that topic alone for the time being!

-The Weekly List -

How far along? 19 Weeks 1 day

Total weight gain/loss: Ate like a heifer this week and somehow did't gain a pound.  Still -2 on the scale.  Next week might be my first week above my pre-pregnancy weight!

Maternity clothes? I packed up all my regular clothes last week after I got my huge donation, so pretty much only maternity clothes.

Stretch marks? Not yet.  But still using my cocoa butter.

Sleep: Still tired, but not as bad as before.  Waking up more to go pee, but luckily I fall right back to sleep!

Best moment this week: This was a great week.  I loved seeing the baby boy on the monitor.  But the best probably was opening the box at the gender reveal.  I loved having my family and friends there to witness the wonderful occasion.  That will have to be in the top five best moments of my life!

Miss Anything? Still deli meat.  I hated seeing those stupid subs at my house this weekend.

Movement: Yes, quite often.  I had a coffee coolata today and he was twisting and turning.  It was pretty cool!

Food cravings: Fruit and oreos.

Food aversions: Nothing, everything tastes wonderful!  Except I still can't bring myself to eat a Reese's.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still no, Thank Goodness!

Ailments: Just nasal congestion, and lots of trips to the bathroom.

Have you started to show yet: Yeah, it actually gets in the way.  I don't realize that I can't fit through certain areas any more.  And I almost knocked someone's drink off the table with my belly.  It seems to have popped out over night!

Gender prediction: No more predicting. It's a BOY!

Labor Signs: NO

Belly Button in or out? In, but feeling super sensitive.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Very happy week!

Looking forward to: Planning his room, registering, hearing his heartbeat on Monday, seeing his face in 5 months.  Life is good!

G-Greek

I will have a full post dedicated to the gender reveal soon.  Don't worry, it will have photos, videos, and an explanation of the whole day.  Until I can get that stuff together I'll post about being a GREEK!

I am half Greek.  That means my baby will be a quarter Greek.  It is kind of sad that with each generation our rich culture gets a little me diluted.  But I guess that is what being an American is all about.

My whole life I have loved being Greek.  I loved learning how to Greek dance at an early age.  I loved learning how to cook and eat Greek food.   I loved meeting other Greeks and having an instant connection because being Greek is so special.  I'm not exactly sure what makes it different than other nationalities, but I am so proud to be Greek.

Kiel and I were lucky enough to travel to Greece for our honeymoon.  It was amazing to final see where my family was from.  I loved the culture, the food, the architecture, the views, the language, everything about it was amazing!   I'd just like to share some pictures from that day and our wedding.

Enjoy....

F-Fireworks

I struggled a bit when it came to thinking of an F word.  Initially I thought I would post about our growing family.  But just a few minutes ago (I'm writing this Sunday night) I heard a round of fireworks going off in our neighborhood.  People are celebrating the fact that the Patriots are in the Super Bowl tonight.

Well the annoying booms, while I was trying to nap after a hectic gender reveal day, made me think that fireworks are a much better topic to post about.

I have always loved fireworks.  The colors, the designs, the boom, the simple beauty.  I am so happy our little BOY is due so close to the 4th of July.  I foresee us having an annual 4th of July party (starting in 2013) to celebrate our baby boy's birthday.  I can count on my brother to buy the best illegal fireworks and put on a show for all of us to watch.  What a wonderful family tradition that will be!

It's a.....

E-Expenses

With a baby on the way I have no idea what to expect when it comes to expenses.  Diapers are ridiculous, day care is going to be our "third mortgage," and I have no clue what else to anticipate!

My whole life I have been a bargain shopper (thanks Mom), but I know I could still do better.  I hardly ever buy clothes, we only go out to dinner if we have a gift card (thanks credit card points) or if it is a special occasion, and I only buy food if it is on sale.

In the past I have tried the whole couponing thing, but I really don't seem to have the energy for it now.  I want to get in a grove and really start comparing prices and doubling up on coupons whenever I can.

I also recently discovered the beauty of second hand shopping.  I don't know why I hadn't explored this option in the past, but from now on I plan to buy most of my clothes (and the baby's clothes) at consignment stores.  I am not a trendy person to begin with, and most of my clothes are worn for multiple seasons, so there is no reason I should spend money on new clothes, when there is nothing wrong with ones that have already been worn (and in many cases, never been worn at all).

Another thing I'd like to do to earn more money is to go through the stuff we currently have and try to sell it online or at consignment shops.  We do have nice stuff and instead of just chucking it or packing it away when we no longer have a use for it, it is much smart to sell it to someone else who could use it.

A part of me is still a little freaked out when it comes to money.  I feel like we are already so good at sticking to our budget that there will be little room for improvement once the baby is here and costing us much more than we thought.  Although, as I have learned in the past, we will always find a way to make it work!

Do you have any savvy tips that a new mom can use to save as much money as possible?
