ABC Wall Challenge

Since some people are interested in adding to our ABC wall, I though I would keep track of the letters we have on this page so we don't end up with duplicates.

Here is what I am using for inspiration:

As of right now I have no letters!!!  But tomorrow (March 3, 2012) I will be starting my adventure.

4.21.12 update. I now have all but 3 letters!!  And I have a plaque that I think I will use for the E.  So that leaves I and X.  I'm kind of bummed since I have a vision for these two letters.  For the i, I really wanted to find a mini baseball bat and cut a baseball in half to make the dot over the i.  And for the X, I wanted to find scissors or something that I could criss cross to make it fun.   What do you think???

A
(3.11.12 Home Goods Wethersfield)
Loved this @ symbol for my A.  It is a cork board.

B
(4.21.12-Michael's)

C
(4.21.12-Michael's)
This is a flexible wooden snake that is made for kids to design.

D
(3.3.12-AC Moore)
(So I got wood letters for the letters that I thought would be hard to find.  If I end up finding a creative D I'll return this and use the more creative one)

E

F
(3.3.12 Ocean State Job Lot)
(Needs paint and probably will lose that ribbon)

G
(3.3.12 AC Moore)
(This is a mirror letter)

H
(3.3.12 Ocean State Job Lot)
(This was a garden flag stand.  Lauren will have Tim cut off the top piece so it looks more like an h)

I
(I'd like to find a mini baseball bat and a ball to make a lower case i)

J
This is the J from Lauren!

K
(4.21.12-Michael's)

L
(3.3.12 Ocean State Job Lot)
(I love this!  When Kiel saw it he said, "Hey, I need one of those!")

M
(4.15.12-Flea Market-thanks to my MIL)

N
(4.21.12-Tinker Toys!)

O

(3.31.12 Michael's)
(So this is my O.  Initially I thought I wanted a cute clock or a record, but when I saw this today I knew I had to have it!  Thanks for buying Mom!)

P

Q

(3.31.12 Michael's)
(This is a metal picture that I picked up in a $1 bin!)

R
(3.3.12 AC Moore)
(This is another wood letter.  I liked the font style)

S
(Angie has an S for me)

T
(3.11.12 Home Goods Wethersfield)
I think this might be my favorite of all.  I knew I wanted an airplane for my T and I am so glad I found this vintage looking plane.  The colors are perfect!)

U
(3.3.12 Goodwill)
(Lauren found this at the Goodwill store in Groton.  Very unique)

V
(3.3.12 AC Moore)
(I actually found this one at AC Moore.  Needs paint and a little something more, but this one will look cool on the wall.)

W

X
(3.11.12 Home Goods)
(3.3.12 AC Moore)

Z
(I think I will use three rulers to make the Z.  I have these at school)

(4.21.12-Michael's)
I'll use this to paint on any letter I am missing.

So I have a folding ruler that will either become a M, N, W, or Z.  Which ever letter I end up needing in the end.  My mother-in-law was on a mission to find it this weekend at the flea market and I don't think she was going to leave until she found one!  I've been looking for more letters here and there and I am starting to get stuck.  I think I am going to make a few of my own with legos and tinker toys.  I also might use foam or something to make a letter or two.   I have 10.5 weeks until he gets here.  I hope it can be done before his arrival!

(3.31.12 Michael's)
(Mom picked up this little wooden frame to decorate and use around one of the boring letters to jazz it up a bit!)

  1. They all look awesome! I'll keep my eye out. I should write down the letters you have so I don't duplicate. Joanne

  2. Love the @ and the T is adorable!! Keep your eyes out for one of those old fashion rulers that fold into each other. Would not only make a good Z but a M or W! Joanne

    1. Yeah, we have been on the lookout for one of those rulers. We haven't actually made it to any flea markets yet, and I'm sure we could find one of those in an an old man's box of tools at one of the markets. I'm so happy to be making progress on this project!! Eleven (well 13 if you include the two that people already have) and only 15 (or 13) to go!! Half way there!
