17 Weeks

(oops!)

Maddex survived his first hurricane.  Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc along the eastern coast Sunday into Monday.  We were so very fortunate and only had high winds and some rain and our power never flickered.  I can't imagine dealing with the flooding, wind damage and other issues other parents are facing along with their babies.  I always count my blessings and this week I made sure to do so several times.

Other milestone I faced was the one year anniversary of the passing of my student.  It has been a roller coaster of a year for me and I cannot even begin to imagine what life has been like for his mother.  Everyday I think of him and how much I miss him.  Then I thank God that I have my precious little boy with me.  I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to have such a perfectly healthy little boy.  There are no words to describe how happy he makes me and how much I love him.

Subject change...

Maddex is getting so big and continues to add so much fun and excitement into our lives.  I love his litter personality.  He smiles and laughs at my silly faces.  He copies some of my silly faces and noises.  He stops crying the second he sees me walk into his room.  He clutches my shirt tightly when I rock him to sleep.  He screams when I wipe his face (such a boy).  He hums when I feed him his big boy food.  He kicks his happy feet when he sees me coming to pick him up from play time on the floor.  He uses his feet and hands to move/grab toys.  Yes, he uses his two feet to pick up toys and bring them to his belly so he can use his hands to play with them.  He is quite an awesome kid. I love watching how much he grows and learns each week.  He really does make my life complete.

- The Weekly List -

17 Weeks Old
Total weight gain/loss:
Mom: Sixteen pounds under still.  I haven't weighed myself this week. Why, you ask?  I have been stuffing my face with Halloween candy.  Maddex's belly can tolerate chocolate now.  That is a bad, bad thing for Mommy!

Maddex: He still is 16.5 pounds according to our scale.  His 4 month appointment is Friday so we will get the exact weight then.

Sleep: Let me say this...On Saturday night he slept for 7.5 hours without waking up once.  Usually he wakes up to be held, if not fed.  But he let us sleep for like 5 hours straight.  Well, almost straight.  Once the clock struck 2 I was up checking to make sure he was okay.  He finally woke for a feeding at 3:50.  If he were to do that from now until he is one I would be perfectly happy with that since I usually get up at 4:30 for work.  That would give me just enough time to feed him a bit, pump what was left, then get ready for work.  Unfortunately, every night since then he hasn't slept for more than 3 hours.  I can't complain though, three hour stretches are much nicer than waking up every hour!

Best moment this week: Cuddling with him during the hurricane.  Starting to see a daytime schedule.  Having my parents watch him for several hours so I could go shopping with Lauren.  Taking his Halloween photos-they will be posted tomorrow.

Miss Anything?
Since he has been sleeping better I can't really complain.  Can I just say I am going to miss him so much when I go back to work that I already feel that I am "missing" him now.

Looking forward to: Halloween tomorrow. Seeing what his doctor has to say about him on Friday.  Seeing him learn new things. I wonder what's next!
